How to get to the Abbey of Bornem.

By car

The abbey, located near the center of Bornem, is easily accessible and only 40 minutes away from Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent. Thanks to its central location, the abbey can be easily reached via the N16, which is connected to both the A12 and the E17.

There is free parking available in front of the abbey.

Additional parking options—also free—are available within a few minutes' walk: Achterweidestraat parking garage, C.C. Ter Dilft parking, and Breeven Sports Center parking.

Bornem station is located approximately 1.3 km from the Abbey of Bornem. You can choose to walk or take a bus to the abbey.

Bus

Bus line 252 (Boom-Puurs-Bornem-Dendermonde) stops close to the abbey. The 'CC ter Dilft' stop is located about 500 meters walking distance away.

 

Bus by reservation

From July 1, 2023, the Belbus 938 Klein-Brabant stops directly in front of the abbey. To use this bus service, you must book in advance via Hoppin. You can find all information about reserving the Belbus here.

By bike

Cycling to the Abbey of Bornem is the perfect choice, the abbey is located at cycling node 23

On the square next to the abbey church, you will find a bicycle rack where you can safely park your bike.

On the square opposite the Abbey of Bornem, you will find 4 parkingspots reserved for camperswhere you can stay for free for up to 48 hours.

A short distance away, there is an additional parking at the Breeven Sports and Recreation Centre. A sanitary station is accessible here day and night. You can discharge wastewater, empty chemical toilets, and obtain fresh drinking water (for a fee of 2 euros).
